Did you read that right? Yes you did! Around the festivities of the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit last month, the big wigs at FCA US LLC has made a series of announcements, not least of which is the news that a brand-new Jeep® Wrangler pickup truck is in the works. As your trusted Jeep dealer in MD, we at Ourisman Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM of Bowie are excited to share all of what we know with you.
The aforementioned Jeep pickup truck is the company’s first foray into the segment since 1992. Back then the company put out the Jeep Comanche, a two-door affair that will surely contrast with the upcoming Jeep pickup set to be released in early 2018. This new model will be built on the back of the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited frame, a 4-door version of that iconic SUV.
Speaking of the Jeep Wrangler, that model will be seeing its first redesign in over a decade later this year. Come fall, you can expect to learn more about the new 2018 Jeep Wrangler, which is set for a likely release in early 2018 alongside the new pick-up.
The biggest news of all, however, may be the far-off return of the Jeep Wagoneer. The original production run for the Jeep Wagoneer ran from 1963 to 1991, and was the brand’s first luxury SUV variant. For those that think they’re unfamiliar with the vehicle, a 1991 model with the signature wood side-panels appears as Skylar White’s car in the television series “Breaking Bad”. Though we can’t expect its return until around 2020, and details are scarce, we do know it will come back as both the Jeep Wagoneer and Jeep Grand Wagoneer.
