Here at Ourisman Chrysler Dodge Jeep® RAM of Bowie, serving Upper Marlboro, MD, we know you know the obvious ones like turn signals. We just want to make sure you know the more nuanced symbols to get you aware of how your vehicle is doing.
Perhaps the most important, the malfunction indicator is your engine light. While something as simple as a loose gas cap can cause it to light up, if you notice it flashing, there may be something seriously wrong with your engine. Be sure to get your vehicle to our Chrysler service center near Upper Marlboro, MD ASAP.
This symbol is used to tell you if your Lane Sense feature is functioning properly, as well as whether or not you are in-between lanes. It can be recognized as a car swerving on a road. If in operation, it should be glowing either white, yellow, or green. If white, no road lines have been detected. If yellow, you are out of your lane and should either switch or return to it as soon as possible. If green, the lines have been detected and you are properly positioned.
Forward Collision System
Another unique indicator to be on the lookout for is the Forward Collision System symbol. If your Forward Collision System is off you will see a little explosion with the word off underneath it. If it is on, you’ll a regular car with stars and lines protecting the front of it.
Most of the other symbols are fairly self-explanatory. A battery picture for the battery, ABS for the anti-lock brake system. If you have any questions about any of the other indicators please let us know here at Ourisman Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM of Bowie. Don’t hesitate to come in if any of your malfunction lights start to flash.
