As the winter weather deepens, Ourisman Chrysler Dodge Jeep® RAM-Bowie wants to make sure you stay safe and protected. We take Jeep service very seriously, and our technicians are some of the best there have ever been.

As the cold sets in for the next few months, here is an overview of some important winter service tasks for your Jeep vehicle.

Test Battery & Clean Terminals

Your battery is crucial to your car’s performance. Without it, nothing else works. Don’t overlook it as the cold weather sets in. You can get a full overview of your battery’s condition with a computerized tester. You can likely have it tested at an auto parts store.

If corrosion builds up around the terminals, this will impede the charging process. This can prevent your battery from recharging as your drive.

Clean the terminals yourself by first carefully disconnecting the negative and then the positive cable. Clean the terminal and wire connectors with a cleaning tool or wire brush, then reconnect the positive cable and then the negative.

Lubricating Hinges, Door Locks, Weather Stripping

While most modern cars have keyless entry, if your battery runs out in the middle of nowhere, you’ll need your locks to work properly. Carefully put graphite lock lubricant into all the locks.

Also, be sure to lubricate the door hinges and weather stripping around the windows to ensure the doors open and close easily and the stripping seals properly.

Do You Need Winter Tires?

You may not need winter tires where you live, but you need to be sure. The right tire can ensure you and your family’s safety.
